When software-based recovery can still be worth trying
The medium must still remain visible when connected to a computer. If it disappears completely or behaves too unstably, it falls outside this service.
- Recently deleted data on a healthy or lightly degraded HDD
- Partition issues or a quick format with little overwrite afterwards
- A controlled copy from a degrading volume that still mounts
- Guidance on imaging before further writes to the original device

Software-related loss versus physical damage
The distinction is where the failure sits. Logical loss can often be handled with software tools and careful copies. When there is physical damage or clear symptoms of it, the medium is not handled by Nivid.
Typical logical or software-related causes
Examples that fit software recovery while the disk or card still responds steadily enough.
- Deleted files or an emptied recycle bin
- Missing or unusable partitions without a hardware fault
- Operating system reinstalled or overwritten so data is hard to reach
- File or metadata corruption without a clear physical cause
- Malware or ransomware at the logical layer (no clicking drive or scorch marks)
- Filesystem errors after power loss or abrupt unplugging
Physical damage is not handled
Examples of damage or symptoms where software-based recovery is not carried out here.
- Drop or impact damage to the medium or enclosure
- Suspected head or motor damage (clicking, grinding)
- Many bad sectors or a drive that degrades quickly
- Fire, smoke, or liquid damage
- Short circuit, lightning strike, or the wrong power supply connected

After diagnosis, there is a clear confirmation of feasibility, risk, and billing.

Recovery
Recovery hours are charged only when usable data is delivered. Without a usable result, only the diagnosis fee remains.
Scope, outcomes, and liability
This service stays limited to software-based recovery. There is no physical intervention inside the medium.
Outcomes may be complete, partial, or none. Further attempts on already weak media can reduce the chance of any remaining recovery. Anyone who instructs work accepts that operational risk. Liability for additional data loss, trading loss, or hardware in worse condition than on drop-off is limited to the extent the law allows.
This service cannot be used for physical damage or cases with formal chain-of-custody requirements. A guaranteed outcome is not offered.
